Taxes may not sound glamourous but at TAP’s Tax Clinic, they’re a powerful tool for change. Please join the VITA Tax Team as a Greeter to help keep this vital community resource accessible as an alternative to costly and predatory tax services.

Greeters are essential and no tax law exam or experience is required!  

Greeter Duties:

• Maintain efficacy in the lobby to ensure everyone is assisted
• Welcome clients to the tax clinic
• Confirm taxpayer has an appointment
• Verify taxpayer is prepared for his/her appointment
• Provide intake paperwork
• Direct taxpayer to Certified Volunteers to complete drop off appointment
• Assist walk-ins with scheduling an appointment.

We offer a fun & valued team environment with snacks and plenty of coffee! Every hour you donate as a volunteer translates directly into accurate tax returns, crucial refunds, and financial stability for families who need it most.

Total Action for Progress (TAP) offers a free tax preparation clinic through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, supporting eligible Virginia residents with tax preparation and filing. To qualify, clients must have an annual household income below $69,000 or meet eligibility for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). This initiative aims to aid low- to moderate-income households in filing accurately and accessing potential refunds. TAP’s Tax Clinic serves clients in 11 Virginia localities and extends services statewide through the GetYourRefund online platform, ensuring these essential resources are accessible to all qualifying residents.

Total Action for Progress (TAP) offers direct services, working with individuals and families, to help them overcome their problems and improve their lives. Our goal is to help them assert themselves as advocates for their own needs. TAP is the second largest non-profit in the state, serving multiple locations with over 20 programs. TAP helps individuals and families achieve sustainable, equitable economic and personal independence through education, employment, affordable housing, and safe and healthy environments.
