Who We Are
Kids Soar is a faith-based nonprofit in Roanoke, VA, that has been serving the community for over 35 years.
Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty through education and service. We offer after-school and summer programs for children in grades K–5, with a strong focus on literacy, personal growth, and community engagement. As a subsidy vendor, we make our programs accessible to more families by providing quality care that meets state assistance guidelines.
Children in our programs receive tutoring, enrichment activities, healthy meals, and mentorship in a safe, nurturing environment. We also support parents through adult education and family-centered initiatives, helping entire households move toward a brighter future.
Teaching a child to read is about more than moving from one reading level to the next, it is about empowering children for a lifetime of success: because every child should be able to read!
What We Do
Literacy After School Program: Monday-Friday 2:00-6:00pm for K-5th grade with an emphasis on children reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade. Children receive a snack, help with homework, literacy instruction, extracurricular activities (art, music, Christian education, US history, and STEM), story time, and a hot meal each evening.
