Mental Health America of Roanoke Valley (MHARV) strives to change perceptions surrounding mental
health, increases public knowledge of mental and physical wellness, offers resources for children and
families, and provides access to quality mental health care.
What We Do
Mental Health America of Roanoke Valley operates the only free psychiatric and medication management clinic in the state of Virginia; a youth program called Super Hero Kids, which is a creative arts- and skills-based therapeutic group for youth who have experienced domestic violence; Crisis Intervention Training, a training for local law enforcement officers on how to deescalate a situation involving an individual in mental health crisis; and Mental Health First Aid, which provides similar skills as Crisis Intervention Training, but is a curriculum for institutions of higher education, public schools, corporations, and nonprofit community partners.
