The Local Office on Aging's annual Meals-on-Wheels Fundraiser, "Let's Do Lunch" will take place on Friday, June 14th! Volunteers are needed for the following days/tasks:
Wednesday, June 12th (event preparation)
Time: 10am-12pm
Location: North Roanoke Baptist Church
Box Folding in the Fellowship Hall at North Roanoke Baptist church. Volunteers are tasked with folding the donated flat boxes from PCA that are used for delivery and curbside pick-up customers. Folded boxes will be stacked around the perimeter of the Fellowship Hall.
Thursday, June 13th (event preparation)
Time: 4 shifts: 8am-10am, 10am-12p, 12:30pm-2:30pm, 2:30pm-4:30pm (We require about 22 volunteers per shift)
Location: Canteen Vending Services
Food Assembly at Canteen Vending Services. Volunteers are tasked with assembling the already prepared food onto plates in an assembly line format. A few volunteers might be utilized to slice tomatoes or do other minor food prep tasks. NO cooking is involved. Be prepared to stand for the 2-hour shift by wearing comfortable shoes (closed-toe) and comfortable clothes. Volunteers will be required to wear hairnet and apron.
Friday, June 14th (day of the event)
Time: 10:00am – 1pm
Location: North Roanoke Baptist Church-Parking Lot
Delivery volunteers are needed to transport boxed lunches to local businesses and organizations that order 5 or more meals. Shifts will vary depending on routes and time that meals are lined up for delivery. Vehicles of all types can be used but we could use several volunteers with large vehicles for some of the big orders. Volunteers will pick-up the delivery orders at North Roanoke Baptist church in the back right corner of the parking lot.
Time: 10:30am-2pm
Location: North Roanoke Baptist Church-Gym
We will need a few volunteers at Eat-in to help assist customers to their seats, clear tables, pass out surveys, greet customers, empty trash etc. Eat-in Volunteers will meet in the Gym at the North Roanoke Baptist Church.
