BRL is a volunteer-run non-profit devoted to helping adults learn English and achieve their life goals. We have both in-person or virtual volunteer opportunities.
Your desire to help someone achieve their literacy goals is all it takes to get started tutoring--we give you the rest! Blue Ridge Literacy's Volunteer Training is designed to introduce you to the populations we serve; the materials and strategies found most effective when working with adults; as well as ease any anxiety and answer any questions you may have! At the end of training, we want you to have a great sense of BRL's mission and objectives, as well as the confidence that YOU can help us reach those goals! There is a $30 fee for Volunteer Training which includes materials, resources, curriculum, and ongoing support as you work with your learner.
