Visit with veteran patients and families recommended and assigned by Hospice of SWVA Volunteer Coordinator.Provide the veteran patient with companionship, interaction, comfort, and provide the caregiver(s) with emotional support.Demonstrates the core values and mission of Hospice SWVA and adopts the Agency mission, strategic direction and project goals.Participate in Veteran patient Pinning Ceremonies and other activities through the We Honor Veterans Program. We serve Veterans in Smyth, Wythe, and Bland Counties in Virginia

Functions as a team member by providing necessary office support to the volunteer coordinator and Hospice office staff. Participates in continuing education and other meetings as needed to perform office duties.Provides assistance to volunteer coordinator in performing office duties including copying, preparing bereavement mailings, cards, and letters to patients and their families. Provide support in answering telephone as requested, copying, filing, and labeling items. Maintains respectful communication wit h patients, families, office staff, and contracting agencies related to hospice services. Communicates directly or via phone with patients, families, physicians, staff, and contracting agencies. Demonstrates effective communication skills and conveys a caring manner to all clients.
