Volunteer: Program VolunteersProgram volunteers can assist in a variety of ways: Club Activity Leaders - Leaders plan, prepare, and implement lessons for students. Club day is typically scheduled for Wednesdays during the school year, from 5:15-6:00pm. Clubs rotate each month. Possible club ideas include: chess, dance, gardening, cooking, drawing, graphic design, sewing, etc. Whatever your passion, CYP students are always eager to learn new things!Technology Assistants - Volunteers assist students with computer based homework assignments and help staff monitor computer lab usage. We are looking for someone to continue computer literacy lessons with our students one day a week. Education Assistants - Volunteers research and create supplemental tutor activities for students based around the VA SOLs. General Program Assistants - Assistants work closely with the Program Coordinator to implement daily activities. Volunteers can help prepare materials, as well as create new and exciting lessons for our students. Volunteer: Meals on Wheels Delivery DriverVolunteers are needed to deliver hot lunches and smiles to home bound seniors in need of nutrition and a safety check. Routes consist of 12-18 homes and take about 1.5 hours to deliver. We work with all schedules. Volunteers work once per week, once per month and anything in between. It takes 42 volunteers per day to deliver to all 600 clients so we are ALWAYS in need of volunteers! Can you help? The Affiliate service area includes the counties of Alleghany, Amherst, Bath, Bedford, Bland, Botetourt, Campbell, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Roanoke, Rockbridge, and Wythe as well as the cities of Buena Vista, Covington , Danville, Galax, Lexington, Lynchburg, Martinsville, Radford, Roanoke, and Salem.
