Volunteer: Homework Helpers/Good ListenersIf you would like to make a difference in the life of a child, then we need YOU! Starting in September of 2023, if you are free between 2:30pm and 4:00pm Monday - Thursday and would like to help with homework or just listen to a child read we would love to have you at Kids Soar! You can stay as little or as long as you like during the time frame. Come once a week, once a month, or every day. This is a drop-in volunteer time no need to schedule ahead. We would be happy to show you around and if you feel this is something you would like to do, we will pair you up with a child. You will never be left alone with a child, a staff member will on hand to answer questions and give assistance as needed. Expectations: Help K-5th with homework. Listen to K-5th grader read aloud. We serve dinner to 25 to 35 people Monday - Friday at our 2 locations. We are located at 305 Mountain Ave SW and at 1801 Dunbar St NW. We are in need of people who are willing to prepare and serve a meal once a month or one-time only. Some groups sign up to prepare and serve the meal on the same day each month. For example, the first Tuesday of every month, or a group will only come once. Food can be prepared on or off site. Dinner is served at 5:30pm and is over at 6pm. Expectations: Food for the meal will be brought to be prepared on site or food will be prepared off site and brought in, children will be served either family style or plated, and the dining room and kitchen cleaned before leaving.
