On October 5th, 1939 the Vinton First Aid Crew was formed after a member of the Vinton Baptist Church fainted during a service. The crew was comprised of 16 members. Our crew was one of the 16 first rescue squads in Virginia. More than eighty years later, the crew is now comprised of 38 active members. Our station covers the Town of Vinton and Eastern Roanoke County. We answer mutual aid calls to Bedford County, Botetourt County, Roanoke City, and other parts of Roanoke County. Our crew is dispatched to more than 1900 calls per year. The population of our primary response area is around 18,000 people spread across 3 square miles.
What We Do
