AARP VA
Lobbying in the state capital for legislative change, presenting a consumer program on identity theft and home repair fraud or offering programs on Social Security and the new changes in Medicare, we need volunteers to help us succeed. We are seeking volunteers for: Advocacy Team: Volunteers who wish to work on our advocacy agenda. This would include lobbying the state legislature, working as a grassroots and elections specialist, or serving as legislative chair for a local AARP Chapter. Program and Community Service Team: Volunteers who wish to help organize in their own communities by promoting AARP?s presence at community activities and events and identifying new opportunities for AARP?s involvement. Also, we need episodic volunteers who are willing to work on a single project, such as helping out the day of an AARP Medicare Seminar in their community. National Community Service Team: Volunteers are needed to support our national community service programs: Tax-Aide which helps senior prepare their tax returns and Driver Safety which helps seniors brush up their driving skills. Orientation and training will be provided all new volunteers. Please join us for a complimentary lunch and learn about the opportunities that exist to volunteer for AARP in your community.
AARP volunteers, working in partnership with staff and community colleagues, are a necessary and vital force in achieving AARP?s vision, mission, and strategic goals. AARP is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all as we age. We lead positive social change and deliver value to members through education, advocacy, and service. In order to accomplish our mission, we need your help. To meet this challenge we rely on our volunteers in every community to work with us to accomplish our strategic plan.
