Who We Are
Brain Injury Services of Southwest Virginia is now Brain Injury Solutions!!!
The mission of Brain Injury Solutions (BIS) is to help children and adults living with acquired brain injury improve the quality of their lives and reintegrate into family and community.
BIS was established in November 2000, as Brain Injury Services of SWVA, by Fran and Greg Rooker, with assistance and guidance from Brain Injury Services, Inc. Most recently, in August 2023, we underwent a rebranding and are now operating as Brain Injury Solutions! BIS provides community-based case management services to survivors of acquired brain injuries and their families. Additionally, BIS provides telehealth services, CLiC--Community Living Connection, an online program that provides education, social, and cognitive programs to survivors.
BIS also provides Information &Referral services and runs multiple support groups throughout our service area.
Congratulations on 20 plus years of service to Southwest Virginia! Our current service area covers approximately 16,000 square miles of Virginia, including Roanoke, Alleghany Highlands, New River Valley areas, all of southwest Virginia, plus areas of Central and Southside.
What We Do
BIS provides FREE community-based case management and telehealth services to survivors and families living with acquired brain injuries.
BIS has also refreshed two previous programs:
- Community Support Specialist Services, an individualized support service that assists survivors in addressing daily living skills through relearning and/or compensation of necessary skills. Referrals for CSSS must come from a BIS Case Manager.
- PALS, Providing a Link for Survivors, is a unique opportunity for both volunteers and brain injury survivors. We are looking for VOLUNTEERS from across our service area. Volunteers must be age 18 or older, have transportation, and complete a criminal background check. Referrals for PALS Survivors must come from a BIS Case Manager.
