Description

Volunteers needed for E-CYCLING Event to benefit Center in the Square

We all have old electronics around the house that are broken or outdated. Did you know that there is a good deal of value in recycling these items? Don’t send these things to the landfill… bring them to this event, and Center in the Square will benefit. Eight cents a pound will donated to our organization!

  • Phones
  • Phone chargers
  • dead toasters
  • old computers*
  • flat screen televisions (NO “old fashioned” TVs with a tube can be taken)
  • anything with a cord
  • lithium batteries the cadmium batteries

*Computer hard drives are shredded and not resold so personal information can’t get into the wrong hands.

People bringing items for e-cycling don’t even have to get out of their warm cars. That is where volunteers come in!

I have the following 2-hour volunteer shifts available. Sign up for one shift or two:
8 am – 10 am
10 am – 12 noon
12 noon – 2 pm
2 pm – 4 pm

  • Volunteers should plan to arrive 15 minutes before the shift is to begin to be shown what to do and be ready to begin.
  • Volunteers will remove light items such as laptops or cell phones from the cars of donors and place them into boxes. [You will not be required to lift very heavy items… there will be other staff there to handle those items.]
  • Volunteers may also share information with people waiting in line and give small handouts to patrons in cars. [No very heavy lifting involved, but you will be on your feet outside.]
  • There will be a tent for volunteers to warm up and take a break with coffee, beverages, and light snacks provided.
  • Volunteers must be aged 16 and up. This event may be postponed to the following Saturday if there is winter weather.

If you can’t volunteer, please take a look around your house for items you might like to bring for e-cycling. Please share with your neighbors, friends, and family. Eight cents a pound can add up quickly, and Center will benefit!
