Holiday Village 2018
December 14-16 & 20-24, 6pm - 10pm
Explore your holiday spirit this year while volunteering in a wonderland of lights! Children's faces will light up while exploring the park's family activities, crafts, music, food and more!! Volunteering opportunities include the following areas: Santa's Workshop (where children can visit with Santa and shop on their own to buy gifts for family and friends), the Visitor Center's Marketplace (where older children can find wonderful gift ideas), the 12 Greens of Christmas (a lighted miniature golf course in the woods), a s'mores station, a beer and wine pavilion, traffic assistance, and our nightly beautification team!

Santa’s Workshop
Inside the Taubman Center at Explore Park
Santa’s Elf
- Key Responsibilities –
- Must be dressed as an elf, costume is not provided. This can be simple, pointed ears found at most costume shops and online at Amazon, fun makeup and a festive outfit, such as a Christmas sweater with jeans or leggings, will do the trick
- Maintain orderliness of the line for Santa
- Assist Santa with any needs
- Keep children amused while they wait their turn, and while Santa takes a break
- Field and answer questions from attendees
Counter Staff
- Key Responsibilities –
- Man Santa’s Workshop’s front desk
- Greet visitors and explain how the workshop operates
- Handles money/credit card sales exchanged for tokens to be used to purchase gifts
- Back up for sales staff
Sales Staff x 2
- Key Responsibilities –
- Assist children with their purchase
- Handle exchange of tokens for gifts
- Giftwrap and bag presents
- Make sure child gets to their respective parent/guardian
Visitor Center Gift Shop (Marketplace)
Inside Visitor’s Center
Merchandise Floater
- Key Responsibilities –
- Insure all merchandise is in good order
- Assist customers with purchases
- Field and answer any questions
- Make sure all merchandise is paid for before leaving the center
12 Greens of Christmas – Miniature Golf
Outside on Foresters Trail
Guest Greeter
- Key Responsibilities –
- Greeting folks
- Check in pre-registered players
- Be familiar with the entire event layout such as restrooms and location of other activities
- Field and answer questions from attendees
Course Monitor
- Key Responsibilities –
- Complete course set up and be sure all props are operational
- Removal of all plastic coverings from each hole, placed secured in a designated spot, then recovered at the end of the night
- Making sure all props on the course are fully operational
- Be familiar with the entire event layout such as restrooms and location of other activities
- Field and answer questions from attendees
- Proper shut down of the course
People Movers/Cue Area & Hole 12
- Key Responsibilities
- Distribute and retrieve (depending on which end of the course you are assigned) each night the balls, golf clubs, score cards, and pencils from the trailer behind Brugh Tavern, bring to golf course site.
- Distribute golf balls, clubs and score cards to golfers
- At the end of the night put all items back into the trailer behind the Brugh
- Be familiar with the entire event layout such as restrooms and location of other activities
- Field and answer questions from attendees
S’mores Station
Outside, but next to a fire to help stay warm
Site Supervisor
- Key Responsibilities –
- Oversee the station is manned and running smoothly
- Start fire, keep it going throughout the evening. Properly extinguish at the end of the night
- Restock items as needed
- Problem solving and filling in as needed such as giving breaks to those on your site
- Be familiar with coworkers and volunteers assigned to your site
- Be familiar with the entire event layout such as restrooms and location of other activities
- Field and answer questions from attendees
Helper x 2
- Key Responsibilities –
- Give general instructions and items for s’more making
- Assist, when needed, to those that need an extra helping hand
- Keep the process in a neat and orderly fashion
Beer and Wine Pavilion
Outside in a heated tent
ID Checker
- Key Responsibilities –
- Check IDs for those purchasing beer/wine and wristband those that are 21 and up.
Sales Server x 2
- Key Responsibilities -
- Check for wristband to ensure that customer is at least 21
- Take payment (one line for cash, one line for credit) from customer
- Inform the server behind you what beverage you need.
Pourer x 2
- Key Responsibilities –
- Be one step ahead of the sales/server, listen to what the customer orders and have beverage ready for the server to grab/pass to
- In busy times, have most popular beverages poured and ready to pass/server to grab
Parking Attendant
Traffic Flow Manager x 2 – Assist guests with parking, make sure everyone fills in first available spots and keep the traffic moving.
Nightly Clean Up
Nightly Beautification Manager x 4 – Take trash bags to appropriate bin(s), pick up any trash, and wipe down tables.
