Program volunteers can assist in a variety of ways:
- Club Activity Leaders - Leaders plan, prepare, and implement lessons for students. Club day is typically scheduled for Wednesdays during the school year, from 5:15-6:00pm. Clubs rotate each month. Possible club ideas include: chess, dance, gardening, cooking, drawing, graphic design, sewing, etc. Whatever your passion, CYP students are always eager to learn new things!
- Technology Assistants - Volunteers assist students with computer based homework assignments and help staff monitor computer lab usage. We are looking for someone to continue computer literacy lessons with our students one day a week.
- Education Assistants - Volunteers research and create supplemental tutor activities for students based around the VA SOLs.
- General Program Assistants - Assistants work closely with the Program Coordinator to implement daily activities. Volunteers can help prepare materials, as well as create new and exciting lessons for our students. Volunteers need to be present at least one day a week during program hours (2:30-6:00pm)
